Eight New Highs, Three Solo Reprices, and the Usual Reversion Math

Eight products cleared fresh all-time highs this week while three solo-variant reprices and a wall of thin-book losers did most of the talking.

KEY POINTS

  • Top 7d gainer: Axew - BW16 +103.8% to $68.75
  • Top 7d loser: Pikachu Star -35.1% to $2077.50
  • New all-time high: 151 Mini Tin Display Case at $2265.93
  • 5 cards near all-time highs
  • Hottest artist: Asako Ito at 12.09x premium

New All-Time Highs

151 Mini Tin Display Case hit $2265.93. Guardians Rising Booster Box hit $1824.50. Gengar (Legendary Collection, Reverse Holofoil) hit $1799.99. Prismatic Evolutions Booster Bundle Display hit $1715.21. Pikachu (Legendary Collection, Reverse Holofoil) hit $1574.99, same printing flagged below for a solo-variant repricing. Journey Together Enhanced Booster Box Case hit $1570.51. Phantasmal Flames Sleeved Booster Case hit $1504.18. Journey Together Sleeved Booster Case hit $1049.84.

Knocking on the Door

Five names sit within half a point of their own highs: Unified Minds Single Pack Blister [Sudowoodo] at $99.49 (ath $99.99, -0.5%), Sabrina's Gengar at $600.87 (ath $603.90, -0.5%), Rocket's Scyther at $85.01 (ath $85.44, -0.5%), Erika's Clefable at $81.39 (ath $81.82, -0.5%), and Furious Fists Booster Box at $4717.50 (ath $4742.51, -0.5%). None of these needed a headline to get here, they just kept climbing quietly.

Movers, Aug 4 to Aug 11

Gainers led by Axew - BW16, up +103.8% on a book of 4 listings, which is not a lot of receipts for a doubling. Pikachu (Base Set) up +98.6% with 3275 listings backing it, a much sturdier number. Genesect - BW101 up +92.3%, depth not reported. Venusaur (Secret Wonders) up +77.2% on 209 listings. Dragonite - 119/181 (Cosmos Holo) up +71.8% on 329. Giratina LV.X - DP38 up +69.5% on 22.

Losers were led by Pikachu Star, down -35.1% on just 4 listings, so treat the move as noisy as the gainer with the same depth problem. Dracozolt V (Full Art) down -33.6% on 650 listings, a real number behind a real drop. Metang - 114/162 (Cosmos Holo) down -33.3% on 67. Rayquaza ex (Delta Species) down -32.7% on 12. Ampharos V (Full Art) down -31.4% on 295. Slowpoke down -31.0% on 258. First Partner Illustration Collection (Series 3) down -30.8% on 1541, the deepest book of the bunch. Kieran - 206/167 down -29.1% on 326. Snorlax Lv.X down -29.0% on 15. Mewtwo (Base Set Shadowless, 1st Edition Holofoil) down -29.0% on 172. All of these lagged the market this week. That is the whole story, no more.

One-Day Spikes

Arceus - DP50 jumped +44.0%, depth not reported. Mew ex - 151/165 jumped +42.5% on 1587 listings, a legitimate crowd behind the move. Charizard ex - 006/165 jumped +38.5% on 716. Hawlucha EX jumped +22.6%, depth not reported. Umbreon ex - 060/131 jumped +19.4% on 1260.

Solo-Variant Reprices

Three moves flagged solo-variant this week, meaning only the one printing moved while its siblings sat still, which usually means a repricing artifact rather than demand. Voltorb (Reverse Holofoil) up +99.8% on a 6-listing book. Pikachu (Legendary Collection, Reverse Holofoil) up +96.9% on 84 listings, also the source of today's new all-time high above. Staryu - 085/113 (Reverse Holofoil) up +94.2% on 24 listings. Read all three as pricing noise until other variants of the same card confirm.

Artist Premiums

Hot: Asako Ito commands a 12.09x premium across 35 cards, well clear of the field. Keiko Fukuyama sits at 3.29x (20 cards), Susumu Maeya at 2.43x (10), Yuka Morii at 2.15x across a much wider 195-card sample, Kazuaki Aihara at 2.08x (12).

Cold: Milky Isobe trades at 0.26x across 22 cards, "Big Mama" Tagawa at 0.27x (16), Kazuo Yazawa at 0.49x (9), Takumi Akabane at 0.52x (50), Shin-ichi Yoshikawa at 0.55x (51).
