Pokemon card prices in Excel with Power Query
1. FROM WEB
In Excel for Windows: Data, Get Data, From Other Sources, From Web (Excel 2016: Data, New Query, From Other Sources, From Web). Paste one URL (a whole set, or one card), press OK, choose Anonymous if Excel asks how to connect, then Transform Data. The set id is the number in its TickerMint page URL (tickermint.cards/set/23237).
https://api.tickermint.cards/sets/23237.csv
https://api.tickermint.cards/products/517045.csv2. PASTE THE M CODE
In the Power Query editor: Home, Advanced Editor, replace everything with this, then Done. It keeps the collector number as text (so a number like 1/102 never becomes a date) and the price as a number.
let
Source = Csv.Document(
Web.Contents("https://api.tickermint.cards/sets/23237.csv"),
[Delimiter = ",", Encoding = 65001, QuoteStyle = QuoteStyle.Csv]
),
Headers = Table.PromoteHeaders(Source, [PromoteAllScalars = true]),
Typed = Table.TransformColumnTypes(
Headers,
{{"date", type date}, {"product_id", Int64.Type}, {"number", type text},
{"market_price_usd", type number}},
"en-US"
)
in
Typed3. LOAD AND REFRESH
Home, Close & Load puts the table on a new sheet. Data, Refresh All pulls the latest prices; in Query Properties you can also tick Refresh data when opening the file. Price your own list with =XLOOKUP(A2, Table1[product_id], Table1[market_price_usd]).
SEARCH BY NAME (JSON)
The search endpoint returns JSON. This query lists every match for a name with its latest market price; swap the q value for your card.
let
Source = Json.Document(
Web.Contents(
"https://api.tickermint.cards/products/search",
[Query = [q = "charizard ex 199/165", game = "pokemon"]]
)
),
Cards = Table.FromRecords(Source),
Picked = Table.SelectColumns(Cards, {"product_id", "name", "set_name", "card_number", "market"}),
Typed = Table.TransformColumnTypes(Picked, {{"market", type number}}, "en-US")

QUESTIONS
How do I get Pokemon card prices into Excel?
+×
Data, From Web, then paste https://api.tickermint.cards/sets/{id}.csv for a whole set or /products/{id}.csv for one card (the id is the number in the TickerMint page URL). Power Query loads the date, name, set, collector number, printing and TCGplayer market price in US dollars. No key or account. It works the same for Pokemon, One Piece, Lorcana, Riftbound, Gundam and Yu-Gi-Oh cards.
How do I keep the prices up to date?
+×
Data, Refresh All, or tick Refresh data when opening the file in Query Properties. TickerMint records one market price per card per day and each answer is cached for up to an hour, so refreshing more often than daily returns the same numbers.
Is it free?
+×
Free for personal projects, research and non-commercial tools with a link back to the TickerMint page the price came from. Showing the prices inside a commercial app, site or tool needs API Pro ($49 a month). The url column in every row is the link back.
Why did my collector numbers turn into dates?
+×
Excel can read a collector number like 1/102 as a date when it opens a CSV directly. Load it through Power Query with the M code on this page, which types the number column as text.
